Practicing Flight Shots

Woke up to some parakeets making a racket
I need to get these beauties in flight one of these days !
Nikon D3, 300mm 2.8 VR, ISO800, 1/1250, F5.6 (manual exposure)
I then decided to put in some flight shot practice on the pigeons that were flying around.
The flight shot I liked most from todays practice .
Nikon D3, 300mm2.8 VR, ISO800, 1/1250 @F4 (manual exposure ), AF-C mode, Dynamic Area AF
And here is a rather abstract shot I liked. Totally unintended and, I misses the focus on the bird
However I liked the way it turned out
Nikon D3, 300mm2.8 VR, ISO800, 1/2000 @F3.5 (manual exposure ),
So if you have a camera and a window/ balcony, put your camera in manual and practice some flight shots.
Tips:
1. Acquire early
2. Follow the bird with hot reticule on the bird
3. Squeeze shutter & follow through.
Above all…EXPERIMENT & HAVE FUN !

105mm VR + all 3 kenko extension tubes stacked, F32 , 30 seconds, ISO 400 and ….I shot these below.
Finally a stacked seven image set, combined into one image.
How I did the focus stack ..well used a nifty program called Combine ZM
The stacked Image
Sure looks pretty, now……… wonder how this tastes !!!
